SF The Urban Center

3/19 We are back at CBU and back to work! In the next two weeks we will have wrapped up all the design, photography and video! We have most of the work done, and there’s a lot of pieces! The pieces look amazing and I am so proud of my teammates! It’s hard to believe that our time together is almost over. We’ve got a lot done, and check back in a few weeks when we will post more work into the gallery for you to see!

3/17 UPDATE- Welp, our time here has come to a close. We have shut off our cameras, packed our bags, and waved goodbye to an incredible city. Though we experienced setbacks due to weather and transportation, we still accomplished a great deal. We all hope that God blesses the Urban Center and San Francisco through us and our design work. As we reflect on this amazing journey from the conception of Vessel to its full implementation in a span of 7 months, we cannot help but praise God for what He has done and continues to do. This was an experience that none of us will forget anytime soon. As we travel back home through, bus, trains, and cars, we all will have different memories that will be on our hearts and minds. Thank you San Fran for all the memories… See you soon.

P.S.- I left my heart in San Francisco… I should probably go back to get it sometime.

3/15 UPDATE- It’s Thursday and we have close to 2 days remaining here in San Francisco, we are excited to almost have accomplished our tasks here! After many complications due to the rainy weather here, we were slightly set back in our agendas but were able to accomplish/adapt to what was absolutely needed. In example we were able to shoot a bit of footage and photos at a local homeless ministry last night and were able to get more video and photography from some beautiful parts of town. It was such a great experience to sit and have a bible study with fellow believers, it was also very encouraging to see that a few of those who were homeless had a pretty solid foundation in Christ.  As we approach the end of our time here in San Francisco, we are continuing to finish our mission here: to leave the Urban Center with plenty of solid design, imagery, and video.

Farewell,
Alfredo
P.S.- Mike: we miss you here.

3/13 UPDATE- We are on our fourth day in San Francisco and it is amazing! The first three days where really good and we had wonderful weather. As of this morning it started to rain, a little windy, and cold. Every day we travel outside and take hundreds of pictures. We met with Tina today and we got some important information about this project. The project is looking good and we are excited to post more pictures and help out San Francisco.

3/11 UPDATE – We have arrived safely and are already enjoying San Francisco! We met with Joe, the head of the Urban Center, and got some direction as to what our task was. We visited a church this morning and got a few good captures in there that we can use for our designs later. We’ve been traversing the city and have a good idea as to what the city holds, and we look forward to all that God has for us while we are here! Our jobs in the coming days include photographing around the city, designing brochures and print materials, as well as working on a video for the urban center. We’ll be updating this page within the coming days, so check back to find out more about our trip!

This team is headed to San Francisco! March 10-17th (our spring break) we will be in San Francisco taking photos and videos for The Urban Center. We leave for San Francisco early Saturday morning and start the adventure with a road trip! During the week, we will be walking all over the city taking photos and videos. Please pray for our safety, team relationships to continue to grow, good weather, and for us to do our very best work!

The Urban Center is a church planting organization is a part of NAMB’s (North American Missions Board) outreach, Send Cities. For more information about Send Cities, visit their website. The Urban Center is currently providing resources and support to five newer Churches, and hopes to increase up to seventy-five churches in the next five years. We are working on their website, and will post up the link when it’s ready!

In the meantime, we are working on other design materials. After talking with the field workers, our team designed 10 amazing logos for the Urban Center to chose from. Look under the gallery tab to see three of those logos! Bellow is their official logo:

The energy and excitement on this team is great. We are all getting along splendidly, and thoroughly enjoy our time together each week. Hard to believe that this weekend we will be in San Francisco!
